Mini USB Tuner Receives and Records Digital TV and Radio
Taipei, October 15, 2005 – X-Micro Technology Corp. announced its new TV-BAR, a mini digital TV tuner that’s the size of a regular USB flash drive. The TV-BAR tuner plugs into a USB port to turn a personal computer into a digital TV/Radio receiver and recorder. Watch TV live on a computer monitor, and record sports, news, and entertainment onto the computer’s hard disk; then burn the recorded programs onto DVD. Never miss a program with the TV-BAR’s scheduled recording feature.
The TV-BAR lets users enjoy the crispness and detail of HDTV, providing higher resolution and a superior viewing experience compared to analog. Fully compliant with the DVB-T digital terrestrial protocol, the TV-BAR provides reception of DVD quality TV images and sound. The TV-BAR also lets users listen to digital terrestrial radio on their PC.
The TV-BAR’s digital tuner features include a signal tuning utility tool, aspect control, and time-shifting that pauses, rewinds, and fast-forwards live TV. Other features include parental control settings, a favorite channel list for custom settings, an electronics program guide and teletext, as well as multi-channel preview to auto-scan channels (FTA channels only).
The TV-BAR provides real time digital video recording, as well as scheduled recording so that users never miss their favorite programs. The wake up recording feature saves power by waking up the computer just before a proram starts. The TV-BAR records in high quality MPEG-II format. Single and multiple frame capture lets users take a snapshot or a series of pictures from a live or recorded TV program. Users can also burn SDTV programs directly onto DVD via a DVD+/-RW recorder.

Ho un Notebook Toshiba satellite 5100-201 senza (credo) USB2. Pensavo di acquistare un ricevitore TV come questo, ma senza USB 2 si riesce a vedere qualcosa?
Conviene che acquisti anche un'espansione PCMCIA per USB2? Quali prodotti sono i migliori per rapporto qualità/prezzo? 
E poi vale davvero la pena acquistare un ricevitore TV? Si vedrà bene (solo con l'antenna in dotazione e non collegandosi a quella di casa).
Riuscirei a mettermi in ufficio a guardarmi tranquillamente la TV senza avere un'antenna esterna?
